This page explains, in plain terms, what happens to your data when you play Flag Quiz, Map Quiz, Capital Quiz, Video Quiz or the Daily Challenge on WorldQuizr. The short version: there is no account system anywhere on this site, so we never collect a name, an email address, or a password from you. Every round is generated and scored in your browser, and the things WorldQuizr keeps on your device are your own best score per mode, your streak and a couple of small preferences, all listed in full below. Separately, we collect a small set of anonymous usage signals, described further down, which are not tied to your identity and never linked to any other visit you make.

There is no account, so there is very little to explain

WorldQuizr does not ask you to sign up, log in, or provide any personal information before playing any of the four quiz modes. There is no registration form, no email field, and no password to set. Because of that, there is no user database on our end containing your name, contact details, or play history tied to an identity: the concept simply doesn't exist in how this site is built.

Local storage: everything this site keeps on your own device

WorldQuizr stores a small number of things in your browser's localStorage, a standard browser feature that keeps small pieces of data on your own device between visits. This is the complete list, and it is checked against the source code automatically so it cannot quietly fall out of date:

None of it is transmitted to our servers automatically, none of it is linked to an identity, and you can clear all of it at any time through your browser's own site data settings. Doing so simply resets your saved best scores, your streak and your appearance choice the next time you visit.

Analytics

WorldQuizr measures how the games are actually used, so we can tell which modes people play, where a round becomes frustrating, and whether anything is broken. Two separate systems do this, and neither one identifies you.

The first is our own measurement, running on our own infrastructure. When you leave a page, your browser sends a handful of anonymous signals: whether you interacted with the quiz at all; how quickly, measured precisely in milliseconds from the moment the page loaded; roughly how long you stayed overall, given as a broad bracket like 10 to 30 seconds rather than an exact figure; and a general sense of where you arrived from (a search engine, a direct link, or somewhere else, never the full page or URL you came from). No cookie, no IP address and no fingerprint is stored in those counters.

The second is PostHog, a product analytics service, hosted in the European Union. It records what happens inside a game: that a game started, that a round was answered correctly or not, how long an answer took, whether a video clip failed to load, how quickly the page rendered, and any JavaScript error. It is configured for this site with no cookies, no localStorage and no persistent visitor identifier at all, which means it cannot recognise you on a later visit or follow you to another site. Analytics requests are also served through worldquizr.com itself rather than sent to an outside address by your browser. Session recording is switched off. Because nothing persistent is stored on your device for analytics, this site needs no cookie consent banner.

There is one more thing that leaves your browser, and it only ever happens because you chose to send it. The thumbs up and thumbs down buttons at the bottom of each page send the page's name and which of the two buttons you pressed to our own server, and the optional comment box below a thumbs down sends the message you typed. Nothing else travels with it: no name, no email address, no identifier, and no way to connect one vote to another. If you never press a button, nothing is ever sent.

Cookies

WorldQuizr sets no cookies at all: not for advertising, not for marketing, and not for analytics. The only browser-side storage in use is the localStorage described above, which holds your best score per quiz mode, your daily play streak, today's Daily Challenge result, your light or dark preference, and the fact that you already voted on a page. That is not a cookie and is never sent to a server automatically the way a cookie is. Playing an embedded video is the one exception worth knowing about, and it is covered further down.

Server and network logs

Like virtually every website, the infrastructure WorldQuizr runs on (Cloudflare) keeps standard technical logs of requests: things like IP address, browser type, requested page, and timestamp, kept for security and reliability purposes such as detecting abuse or diagnosing an outage. These are operational logs at the infrastructure level, not a profile built about you individually, and they are not used for advertising or cross-referenced with your quiz activity in any way.

Fonts, flags and map data are all self-hosted

The flag images, the world map outlines, and the two typefaces used on this site (Baloo 2 and Nunito) are all stored on our own servers and served directly from this domain, rather than fetched from Google Fonts or another third-party host at the moment you load the page. Practically, that means loading a page on WorldQuizr does not trigger a separate request to an outside font or image provider just to render it.

Video Quiz plays clips we host ourselves

Video Quiz plays short clips from our own storage at clips.worldquizr.com, using your browser's built-in video player. Nothing is embedded from YouTube or any other video service, so playing this mode does not connect your browser to Google and sets no third-party cookies. Every clip is Creative Commons licensed and was downloaded, trimmed and re-hosted by us in advance. The credits page lists each clip with a link back to the original video on YouTube. Following one of those links is an ordinary visit to YouTube like any other outbound link, and what happens there is governed by Google's own privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy.

Children's privacy

WorldQuizr is a general-audience geography quiz and is not directed specifically at children, but nothing on the site requires any visitor, of any age, to submit personal information in the first place. There is no account system, no form asking for a name or email, and no mechanism by which we could identify a visitor's age even if we wanted to. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone through this site.

Changes to this policy

If how this site handles data changes meaningfully, for example if an account system or an advertising network were ever added, this page would be updated to reflect that before the change takes effect, not after. Since this policy is a static page rather than something tied to an account, there is no notification list to sign up for; checking back here is the way to see the current version.

Third-party links

The GeoGuessr Alternative comparison page on this site references other geography games by name for comparison purposes. Those products have their own separate privacy policies and practices, which we do not control and this policy does not cover; we'd encourage you to review the privacy policy of any third-party site you visit from a link on this site.

Contact

If you have a question about this policy or about how WorldQuizr handles data, email contact@worldquizr.com directly. WorldQuizr is operated by Puffer AB; full company details are in the footer of every page on this site.

Frequently asked questions

Does WorldQuizr require an account to play?
No. All four quiz modes (Flag, Map, Capital and Video) are fully playable with no sign-up, no login, and no personal information required at any point.
Where is my best score stored?
Only in your own browser's localStorage, on your own device. It is never sent to our servers, never linked to an identity, and is cleared if you clear your browser's site data or switch devices. The same is true of your streak and of your Daily Challenge result. The local storage section above lists everything that is kept.
Does WorldQuizr use tracking cookies or sell data to advertisers?
No. WorldQuizr sets no cookies at all and stores no persistent visitor identifier, so the analytics in use cannot recognise you on a later visit or follow you to another site. There is no personal data collected to sell or share in the first place.
Do I need an internet connection to keep playing after the page loads?
Yes, briefly: the flag images for Flag Quiz and the map data for Map Quiz are loaded as part of the page. Once loaded, scoring and round logic run in your browser, but a fresh page load does require a normal internet connection like any website.
