Europe Map Quiz: click every European country on the map

A map zoomed to Europe, 39 countries, ten free rounds. No sign-up, works on any device.

Question 1 / 10 Streak 0 0 pts

Tap the country on the map. Hover or focus a shape to check its name first.

This page scopes WorldQuizr's Map Quiz down to Europe alone: the map is cropped and zoomed to the continent rather than shown on a full 172-country world map, and each round asks you to click one of those same 39 European countries. A country like Montenegro is genuinely hard to place on a full unzoomed world map, but becomes a real, findable target once the view is limited to Europe. A very small handful of the tiniest countries -- it varies slightly by screen size -- sit outside the question pool itself even after the crop, since a shape only a few pixels wide isn't a fair question; they stay fully visible and clickable on the map either way. One outlier stretches the crop further than the rest: Russia's mapped territory reaches past the Ural Mountains into Siberia, so the frame stays generous enough to keep its shape recognisable without shrinking every other country to a sliver. Hover or focus any shape first to check its name. Ten rounds, one click each, then a results screen with your accuracy and a review list.

How the map is cropped to Europe

Rather than hand-drawing a separate Europe-only map, WorldQuizr crops the same underlying world map geometry used everywhere else on the site down to the bounding area of the 39 European countries, then zooms in on that area. The one wrinkle is Russia: its full territory stretches roughly 9,000 kilometres from Kaliningrad to the Bering Strait, and a naive crop that included all of that would have zoomed the whole continent back out to nearly the entire Eastern Hemisphere, defeating the point. The crop calculation instead treats Russia's exceptional width as an outlier when sizing the view, so the frame stays tight around the rest of Europe while Russia's own shape is still fully present and clickable at the edge of the map.

European countries that are easy to miss

A handful of countries are small enough, even after the zoom, to take an extra look for: Luxembourg, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Slovenia and Moldova are all compact enough to sit between larger neighbours without much visual separation. Hovering or focusing a shape shows its name before you commit to a click, which is the fastest way to build a mental map of exactly where each of these sits relative to its bigger neighbours.

How a round works here

Each Europe Map Quiz session is ten rounds. Every round names one of the 39 European countries and asks you to click its shape on the cropped map; hovering or focusing any shape first shows its name, so you can double-check before committing. A correct click updates your streak and score immediately, a miss resets the streak but never ends the session, and after ten rounds you get a results screen with your score, your accuracy as a percentage, and a short review list of anything you missed with the correct country named next to it.

Your best Europe Map Quiz score is saved locally in your own browser, kept separate from your worldwide Map Quiz score. See the privacy policy for exactly what that local storage does, and does not, touch.

Map or flags: two ways to test the same 39 countries

If you'd rather recognise a flag than click a shape, the Europe Flag Quiz tests the same 39-country pool. Both pages share the same underlying map geometry and country data as the unscoped Map Quiz and Flag Quiz -- sourced once, verified, and kept current rather than quietly left outdated.

Frequently asked questions

How many countries can I click on in the Europe Map Quiz?
39, from Iceland to Cyprus -- every one of them is on the map and clickable. A very small number of the tiniest ones (it varies slightly by screen size) are left out of the question pool itself, since a shape only a few pixels wide isn't a fair question; they stay fully visible and clickable on the map either way.
Why does Russia take up so much of the map?
Russia is classified as European in WorldQuizr's dataset, but its actual mapped territory reaches thousands of kilometres east into Siberia. The crop keeps Russia's own shape fully visible and clickable while treating its unusual width as an outlier so it doesn't force the rest of the continent to zoom back out.
Is Turkey on the Europe map?
No. WorldQuizr classifies Turkey, along with Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan, as part of Asia, so it appears on the Asia Map Quiz instead, not here.
Does hovering over a country show its name before I click?
Yes. Hover on desktop, or focus with a keyboard or screen reader, shows a country's name before you commit to a click, on every map in WorldQuizr including this one.
