Europe Flag Quiz: name every European country from its flag

All 39 European flags, four choices, ten free rounds. No sign-up, works on any device.

Question 1 / 10 Streak 0 0 pts

This page narrows WorldQuizr's Flag Quiz down to one continent: all 39 European countries in the game's dataset, from Iceland in the northwest to Cyprus in the southeast, with every round pulling both its flag and its three wrong answers from that same European pool. That narrower field changes the difficulty in an interesting way. A worldwide flag quiz lets you rule out entire regions on colour palette alone; a Europe-only round can't, because every option in front of you is already European, so genuine near-misses like the Nordic cross family shared by Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland and Iceland, or the near-identical horizontal tricolours used across the Baltics and the Balkans, show up far more often per session. Ten rounds, four choices each, instant scoring, and a results screen with your accuracy and a review of anything you missed. This is the same flag-recognition engine as the full 172-flag Flag Quiz, just scoped to Europe for anyone who wants to drill the continent specifically rather than the whole world at once. The unscoped Flag Quiz and the Europe Map Quiz are one tap away if you want to widen out or switch modes afterward.

The 39 countries in the Europe Flag Quiz

Every round draws from the same fixed list: Albania, Austria, Belarus, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Moldova, Montenegro, Netherlands, North Macedonia, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Ukraine and the United Kingdom. A handful of Europe's smallest states (Andorra, Liechtenstein, Malta, Monaco, San Marino, Vatican City) aren't in WorldQuizr's underlying dataset at all, on any of the three modes, so the same 39 countries you see here are also what the unscoped Flag Quiz, Map Quiz and Capital Quiz draw on whenever they happen to land on a European flag.

European flags that trip people up

A short list of near-identical pairs accounts for most of the wrong answers in a Europe-only round. Austria and Latvia both use a red-white-red horizontal band, differing mainly in shade (Austria's red runs brighter, Latvia's a deeper carmine) rather than layout. The Netherlands and Luxembourg share the same red-white-blue horizontal order, distinguished by proportion (Luxembourg's flag is longer and narrower) and by Luxembourg's lighter, more cyan-leaning blue. Slovenia, Slovakia and Russia all use a white-blue-red horizontal tricolour; Slovenia and Slovakia add their own coat of arms in the top-left to break the tie, Russia's stays plain. And the five Nordic cross flags (Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Iceland) all place an off-centre cross on a solid field, differing only in the two colours chosen.

None of these are unfair questions. They're exactly the kind of near-miss that makes a continent-scoped flag quiz worth playing on its own: get one wrong once, see the correct flag and name immediately, and the distinction usually sticks the next time it comes up.

How a round works here

Each Europe Flag Quiz session is ten rounds. Every round shows one real national flag from the 39-country European pool and four possible country names, also drawn from that same pool and shuffled fresh each time so the answer position is never predictable. Pick correctly and your streak and running score both update immediately; a miss resets the streak but never ends the session, so one bad guess never costs you the rest of the round. At the end of ten questions you get a results screen with your score, your accuracy as a percentage, and a short review list of anything you missed with the correct country named next to it.

Your best Europe Flag Quiz score is saved locally in your own browser, separate from your worldwide Flag Quiz score, so the two don't overwrite each other. See the privacy policy for exactly what that local storage does, and does not, touch.

Flags or map: two ways to test the same 39 countries

If you'd rather click a country on a map than recognise its flag, the Europe Map Quiz tests the same 39-country pool with the game's map zoomed and cropped to the continent instead of shown at full-world scale. Both pages share the same underlying flag artwork and country data as the unscoped Flag Quiz and Map Quiz -- sourced once, verified, and kept current rather than quietly left outdated.

Frequently asked questions

How many European countries are in this quiz?
All 39 European countries in WorldQuizr's dataset are included, from Iceland to Cyprus. Every round draws its flag and its three wrong answers from this same list of 39, so both the question and the near-miss options are entirely European.
Is Turkey included in the Europe Flag Quiz?
No. WorldQuizr classifies Turkey as part of Asia rather than Europe, alongside its Caucasus neighbours Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan, so it appears in the Asia Map Quiz instead. Russia and Cyprus, by contrast, are classified as European here even though both have territory or geography reaching toward Asia.
Which European country in this quiz has the most time zones?
Russia, which spans 11 time zones across its territory, more than any other country in the world, even though the great majority of that territory is geographically in Asia rather than Europe.
Do I need an account to track my best score?
No. Your best Europe Flag Quiz score is saved in your browser's local storage, kept separate from your worldwide Flag Quiz score, and never tied to an account.
